New F-Gas legislation came into force in July 2011 making all previous qualifications invalid. The Construction Skills (formally CITB) have replaced their existing refrigerant handling qualifications with the new F-Gas legislation requirements with the exception of Ammonia which remains unchanged.
Construction Skills now offer a choice of 4 categories:
We appreciate most engineers will need Category 1 so we are offering this as standard but for those needing Categories 2, 3 or 4 we will provide these on request.
Our approach is to aid and facilitate companies with a ONE STOP SHOP for all their Certification requirements.
Category 1: For personnel who require certification of competence to carry out all work on all systems such as installation, recovery, maintenance and repairs regardless of F-Gas quantity. Brazing knowledge is required for this category.
Category 2: For personnel who require certification of competence to carry out recovery, installation, maintenance and repairs on systems containing F Gases (Fluorocarbon Refrigerants) up to 3 Kg. (6 Kg if hermetically sealed system) or Air conditioning / heat pumps up to 5 Kg (6 Kg if hermetically sealed system).
CATEGORY 1 is the more flexible and common module as it allows you to work on above and below 3kg.
This is a two day training and assessment course. This course is aimed at intermediate level engineers who feel that they would benefit from an overall review of refrigeration systems and the City & Guilds or CSkills content with the addition of more practical experience prior to undertaking the assessment. Engineers will need a small amount of experience in brazing before attending the course but a brief practical session will be carried out for those whom need extra hands on experience.
This is a one day assessment course. This course is for experienced engineers who feel that they only need a review of the regulations course content prior to undertaking the assessment. Engineers will need to be competent at brazing prior to coming on this course.
The course is essential for all personnel who wish to be competent in installing and/or replacing refrigeration or air conditioning copper pipework. It is a practically orientated course but includes theoretical elements for safe and competent refrigeration brazing techniques.
