This course is designed for individuals to develop and/or enhance their knowledge and skills in the inspection and testing of single and three phase low voltage electrical installations.
Course Overview
This course gives an opportunity for individuals to develop and/or enhance their knowledge and skills in the inspection and testing of single and three phase low voltage electrical installations.This course is aimed at experienced electrical inspectors (including electricians and electrical engineers) who are currently performing inspection on the full range of single and three-phase electrical testing, and are seeking a qualification that embraces all the disciplines for carrying out Initial verification and Periodic inspection, as well as carrying out a full range of functional electrical tests on both single and three-phase electrical installations.
This qualification combines all the elements of Initial, Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. It is intended for those practising and experienced electricians and electrical engineers who wish to formally demonstrate, with an accredited qualification, their knowledge and abilities in performing both Initial verification and periodic inspection on single and three-phase electrical installations. It comprehensively covers all the methodologies of testing and inspecting as outlined in BS 7671 (within Part 6) and IET Guidance Note 3.

- Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
- Requirements for initial verification of electrical installations
- Requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to their being placed into service
- Requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
- Requirements for testing before circuits are energized
- Requirements for testing energized installations
- Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
- Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
- Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
- Commissioning electrotechnical systems and equipment
Throughout the above you will also cover:
- Health and Safety requirements
- Relevant documentation
- Factors that affect conductor resistance values
- Common earth fault loop paths
- Methods for verifying protection
- Requirements for determining fault current
- Procedures for dealing with client
