Course Overview
This HETAS course is for candidates who have relevant experience including stove retailers, chimney sweeps and allied trades such as plumbing and heating installers. Successful completion of the course will enable the candidate to apply for registration with HETAS on the competent person registration scheme for the installation of dry appliances.
Course content:
- Instruction on all aspects of dry appliance installation
- The correct installation of hearths and fireplaces
- Different types of chimney and connecting flue pipes
- Identification of faults and the correct use of terminals
- Commissioning and servicing of dry solid fuel appliances

Written Assessments
These consist of three open book written assessments. The open book assessments permit the use of approved reference material such as Hetas manuals to obtain answers. All three written assessments contain either multiple questions or true/false statements.
Practical Assessments

Practical Tests
HETAS assessments will need to be completed
Course Schedule
This is a three days course which is inclusive of five hours assessment
Pre-Requisites
- Demonstrable, appropriate previous work experience on dry stove installations
- OFTEC technician with scope of work categories 101,102 or 105e
- Registered Gas Safe operative with work categories CCN1 and HTR1
- Registered member of APICS, GOMCS, NACS or Sweep Safe
